NoGi BJJ in Munich
BJJ Munich – Learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with a System, Not by Memorizing.
Structured BJJ entry for beginners, expats, and visiting grapplers in Munich-Westend. BJJ training with NoGi focus, small groups, English-friendly coaching, no jumping into the deep end.
The Problem
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for Beginners: Why the Start Often Feels Chaotic
This isn't your fault. You watch techniques, try to keep up, but the moment sparring starts it's all gone. This is exactly where most beginners drop out.
That's where Elevate Jiu Jitsu in Munich comes in: you learn Brazilian Jiu Jitsu not by memorizing, but as a system, with a structured entry in small groups from your very first Crash Course.
The Solution
BJJ Crash Course: Your Structured Entry
No jumping into the deep end. You get a clear introduction that shows you what BJJ really is and how it works as a martial art, step by step, in a small group with English-speaking coaching.
Instead of random techniques or overwhelm, you learn a system: you understand how positions connect, how control is built, and how movement in BJJ actually works.
You'll truly understand what's happening on the mat, and why.
What Makes Elevate Different
Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Munich: My Approach
At Elevate, you go the opposite way of most gyms: first a structured entry, then a free decision, no contract, no pressure. Perfect for beginners, expats, and visiting grapplers.
- You're thrown straight into open class, no preparation
- BJJ techniques change weekly, with no clear didactic structure
- Structured BJJ entry from day one, no leap into open mat
- No contract, no membership, you only book what you actually need
How It Works
Your BJJ Crash Course – Step by Step
Clear didactic flow in about 2.5 hours, from your first contact with the mat to your first controlled NoGi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu application.
A dynamic warm-up gets your body ready and gets you comfortable moving on the mat, so you start the Crash Course safe and prepared.
You get to know the fundamental positions of BJJ. It's not just about what to do, but above all why. That's the key to real progress in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
Instead of complex technique sequences: games with clear goals and direct feedback. You learn BJJ for beginners through real experience, proven the fastest learning path in martial arts.
To finish, there's sparring tailored to your level. No wild rolling, just safe and controlled first contact with NoGi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
After the Crash Course, you know whether Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is right for you and how to continue, for example through the structured 4-Week Course as a logical next step.

Your Coach
Belami Osinski – Your BJJ Coach in Munich
I'm Belami Osinski, founder and coach of Elevate Jiu Jitsu in Munich-Westend. Active in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu since 2018 with a focus on NoGi. I started Elevate because the entry into BJJ is unnecessarily complicated for most beginners.
In classic classes, you get shown techniques, but the bigger picture is missing. That's exactly the gap I close with my coaching approach. Training is taught fluently in English and German.
Principles over moves
You learn why a BJJ technique works, not just what it looks like.
Safe entry
Step by step through proximity, pressure, and grappling application, no jumping into the deep end.
Small groups
Personal feedback during training, you don't get lost in the crowd like in big martial arts gyms.
100% NoGi focus
No Gi, no MMA mix. Pure NoGi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, taught clearly and consistently.

The System
The Five Laws of BJJ – Principles Instead of a Hundred Techniques
The Five Laws of BJJ are a guide to the key concepts for your start. Learn these five principles and you can orient yourself in any new position, without memorizing hundreds of techniques.
Win the Inside
The inside space sits below your partner's arms, from armpit to hip. Control it and you control the exchange. Attack: bring arms, legs, or head inside. Defend: elbows tight, knees to your chest.
Fight for Mobility
BJJ is a battle over movement. Stay mobile and you keep your options. Attack: keep your partner's shoulders and hips flat on the mat. Defend: turn to your side and create space.
Break Balance
Balance needs a stable base. Take it away and your partner falls. Attack: block a post and drive their weight past it. Defend: keep your weight over your base.
Posture Control
An upright spine creates power. Lose your posture and you lose control. Attack: control the head and pull it down. Defend: stay upright, don't give up your head.
Use All Your Tools
Your five tools: arms, legs, hips, shoulders, head. Weak alone, unstoppable together. Attack: use them all at once for pressure and control. Defend: keep your partner's tools off you.
As a beginner, these five principles give you a clear thread to orient yourself on the mat.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions about BJJ in Munich
Yes – every class at Elevate is taught fluently in English and German. I'm bilingual and adapt to the group. English coaching has been part of Elevate from day one. You won't be the only English speaker on the mat, and you'll never feel left out because of language. If anything is unclear, just ask, I'll explain it in whichever language works best for you.
BJJ stands for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, a martial art and self-defense system focused on ground fighting (grappling). The goal is to make an opponent submit through joint locks, chokes, and positional control, without strikes or kicks. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu emerged in Brazil in the early 20th century, evolving from Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Today, BJJ is considered one of the most effective martial arts in the world, especially on the ground, and is a core component of MMA and many self-defense systems.
NoGi BJJ is Brazilian Jiu Jitsu without the traditional kimono (Gi). Instead of training in a Gi, we train in rashguard and shorts. This makes the training faster and more dynamic. At Elevate Jiu Jitsu in Munich, we train exclusively NoGi, with a clear focus on principles, ground control, and properly structured beginner progression. The advantage for beginners: less grip material, more focus on position, movement, and body awareness.
No, you don't need any prior experience. My training at Elevate is specifically built for BJJ beginners with no martial arts background. You don't need to be fit, flexible, or athletic to start. In the Crash Course, you learn the basics step by step: ground movement, proximity, body control. If you feel unsure: that's exactly who the Crash Course is built for, introducing complete beginners to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu safely and methodically.
BJJ is widely considered one of the most effective martial arts in the world, especially on the ground. The big advantage for beginners: you don't need extraordinary strength or speed, because Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is built on leverage, position, and technique. Smaller and physically weaker people can dominate larger opponents once they understand the system. That's why BJJ is a core part of MMA and many self-defense systems, and is often called "human chess", because strategy and tactics matter more than raw strength.
The BJJ Crash Course costs €30 and is the most affordable way to try Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in Munich without commitment. The structured 4-Week Course is offered personally after the Crash Course.
For the Crash Course, normal sportswear is fine. No need to buy anything special to start. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is trained barefoot on the mat. A mouthguard is recommended. You can buy one directly from me (€10) and we'll fit it together. A towel for showering is helpful. If you're unsure what you need: message me beforehand, I'm happy to help.
Yes, experienced grapplers and BJJ practitioners are very welcome. My coaching is built on the Five Laws of BJJ, a principles-based system that opens new perspectives even for advanced students. Experienced students benefit especially from the depth: instead of collecting more techniques, you deepen your understanding of why BJJ actually works. Working on clean fundamentals doesn't hurt at any level, and often makes the difference between hitting a plateau and continuing to grow.
